Not only having the right dataset but also the ability to translate and combine datasets into meaningful insights for our customers in the Third Party Risk Management and Merchant Risk space is critical to the degree our customers value our service.
Role description
As Owlin’s Data Quality Intern you will play a crucial role in generating high-quality valuable risk insights, ensuring that Owlin’s clients are receiving the data that is relevant for them. This internship involves assessing, analyzing, and interpreting large textual datasets of complex data. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex data issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will be part of our product team who serves as the interface between our raw data and our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Generating and assessing queries for: entity matching, entity disambiguation and event classification
- Perform data quality assessments and audits to identify data issues and anomalies
- Occasionally interact with clients to ensure that we deliver quality results to their requests
- Writing scripts to facilitate more efficient and effective workflows
Requirements
- In the final stages of, or recently completed, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. (We also welcome candidates from interdisciplinary programs that combine business and technology.)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data querying languages
- Enjoys working with diverse types of people like customers, engineers, data scientists
- Curiosity and learning new things is your second nature and part of what gets you going
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate complex data issues clearly and effectively to various stakeholders
- Understands, lives and breathes a customer first mentality and approach
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the drive to exceed expectations
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience within the risk domain
- Familiarity with document-oriented databases
