Product Release Update

Sharper risk events, a cleaner inbox, and your alerts wherever you need them.

This product release update makes Owlin’s monitoring more precise and easier to manage. Events are now extracted with greater factual accuracy and scored in the context of the company they affect, related alerts arrive as one email instead of many, and you can export your alerts to keep a record in your own systems.

Improved feature – Event extraction and scoring

Precise, fact-based events, scored by what they mean for each company

Why did we improve event extraction and scoring?

Feedback from our early release clients showed us where events could better match what risk analysts expect to see. Events needed to stick more closely to the facts, and risk scores needed to reflect how much an event impacts the specific company involved, taking into consideration the company’s size.

What’s new?

  • Fact-based extraction: events are now built around concrete details such as dates and locations, which keeps them specific and avoids generalizations, interpretations, or extrapolation.
  • One story, one event: separate stories are no longer merged into a single event, so each development is captured on its own.
  • Context-aware scoring: our scoring model now takes the company’s own context into account, so an event’s risk score reflects its likely impact on that specific company.

How will you benefit?

  • Less chance of missing important facts buried inside a combined event
  • Risk prioritization that reflects the real impact on each company in your portfolio
  • Straightforward events that are not misleading or open to interpretation

New feature – Grouped alerts

One alert per development, no matter how many channels it hits

Why did we add grouped alerts?

When the same event or record matched several alert channels, users received a separate email for each one. Beta users told us this filled their inboxes with repeated information and made it harder to focus on the new developments.

What’s new?

When an event or record triggers alerts in more than one of the channels you’re subscribed to, you now receive a single email. That email mentions every alert channel the development applies to, so you still see the full picture.

How will you benefit?

  • A decluttered inbox with no duplicate alerts
  • Less information to process each day
  • Full visibility into which alert channels each development belongs to

New feature – Alert export

Take your alerts wherever your workflow needs them

Why did we add alert export?

Users asked for an efficient way to review alerts in bulk and to keep a record of them in their own systems.

What’s new?

Each alert channel now has an export button. Choose a timeframe, and Owlin generates a spreadsheet containing all the alerts in that channel for the selected period of time.

How will you benefit?

  • Review large volumes of alerts at once, outside the Owlin interface
  • Store and track alerts in your own systems, in whatever way suits your team
  • An easy way to keep records of your monitoring activity

Terminology

An event is a specific risk development involving a company, such as a lawsuit, a data breach, or a leadership change, extracted from news and records and assigned a risk score.

An alert is a notification triggered by a new risk development in your monitored environment that may require attention, review, or action.

An alert channel is a stream of alerts that can be configured to define what triggers an alert, who receives it, and how (via dashboard, email, Slack, or Teams).
